OVERVIEW

Overview

A four-day model course that tours the Kumano area and concludes at Koyasan.

Kumano is rooted in nature worship where gods are believed to reside in rivers, waterfalls, and large rocks. Visiting Kumano is believed to heal the soul and facilitate the rebirth of self. Mt. Koya, a holy Buddhist site (Shingon sect), was founded on a hidden plain located deep in the mountains of the Kii Peninsula.

Explore the heart of Japan through experiencing the majestic nature of these locations, meeting with local people, and learning the story of a region which has fostered various religious traditions throughout history.
