OVERVIEW

Spring in Japan is well-known for its cherry blossoms, which symbolize new beginnings, and create a perfect atmosphere for traveling around the country. Although the beauty of the Sakura usually only lasts about a week, such glorious transience is cherished by the Japanese people. On this trip, the wonder of the amazing historical places you visit will be greatly enhanced by the sight of sakura cherry blossoms petals filling the air like snow. This one week of the year has had a lasting influence on the Japanese way of thinking and culture.

Our tour is catered to first-time visitors of Nara. Escape the tourist crowds but experience the rich history of stunning must-see locations and participate in culturally rich activities, such as traditional tea ceremony and zen meditation in ancient temples with monks. We can also arrange exclusive optional programs, such as Japanese confectionary making, learning about Japanese swords, and delicious sake tasting tours. Take a day to enjoy exploring famous Kyoto as well.

  1. Kansai International Airport - Mt. Shigi

    DAY01

Kansai International Airport - Mt. Shigi

Visit Horyu-ji Temple, one of the oldest wooden architectural buildings in the world and the first designated World Heritage site in Japan (1993). Be simply astonished by the existence of such grand wooden structures and phenomenal architectural design built over 1,300 years ago.

Remove yourself from the norms of everyday life, and stay the night at Shigisan Chogosonshi-ji Temple. Enjoy high quality Shojin Ryori, which is the vegetarian cuisine originally derived from the dietary restrictions of Buddhist monks.
  2. Mt. Shigi - Nara City

    DAY02

    Mt. Shigi - Nara City

Rise early in the morning and experience life as a monk through a unique morning prayer known as the Gomagyo fire ritual, which is performed to grant wishes, as well as other religious practices amidst the monks of the Shigisan Chogosonshi-ji Temple.

After lunch, move on to the Zen temple of Joko-in, where you will learn from a Japanese green tea master about how to participate in traditional Japanese Tea Ceremony, then have the honor of making the tea yourself!
The ceremony is not only about drinking tea; it is also well known for self-discipline and subtle beauty in a process that expresses appreciation to those you are serving. Feel this "beauty of wabi" in your heart through this experience. The stunning Japanese garden arranged especially for tea ceremony participants is also unforgettable.
In the evening, enjoy some free time exploring Nara City.
  3. Nara City

    DAY03

    Nara City

Enjoy the fresh air and comfortable silence of an early morning in Nara Park, where you will meet hundreds of free rein deer who are accustomed to living alongside humans. A local deer keeper plays his French horn to summon them to be fed at a special "Deer Gathering" performance.

Explore the temples and shrines around Nara Park: visit Kofuku-ji Temple and its five-story pagoda, a major landmark of Nara City. Then the Kasuga Taisha Shrine, famous for its vermillion bright red buildings and hanging lanterns.
The influence of many different cultures can be seen in the historical sites of Nara Park, as this region is said to be the easternmost stop along the ancient Silk Road.

In the afternoon you have a choice of the following options:
    - Explore an old merchants’ town called Naramachi, and join our exclusive Japanese sweet-making experience under the instruction of a master confectioner.
    - Visit Kikuichi Cutlery, which is said to be the oldest knife shop in the world.
    - Visit Omiwa Jinja Shrine, known as the place of origin for Japanese Sake, and visit Imanishi Sake Brewery for Sake tasting
  4. Nara City - Osaka

    DAY04

    Nara City - Osaka

Today you will visit Kyoto, but the schedule and where you go is entirely up to you!
Want to walk through thousands of vermilion Torii gates at the Fushimi Inari-taisha Shrine? Have your camera ready!
How about visiting the Gion area? You may have the chance to encounter real geishas.
Interested in the beauty of Kimonos? We offer a kimono weaving demonstration in the Nishijin area, home to Kyoto’s textile industry.
At night, you can choose your favorite city to stay in; will it be Nara? Osaka? Kyoto? Let us know and we will make it happen.
  5. Osaka - Kansai International airport

    DAY05
