OVERVIEW

Autumn is the best season to travel to Japan!
Visit some of the most prominent, traditional sites in Japan, including Horyu-ji Temple and The Ise-jingu Shrine.

Stay at the perfect location for partaking in devotional exercises at a time-honored temple lodging on Mt. Shigi. This area is a popular autumn foliage destination for thousands of Japanese people every year, boasting magnificent warm colors in ideal temperatures.
In the Soni Highlands of northeastern Nara, be awed by fields of golden pampas grass. And as the day turns to dusk, the light of the setting sun sets this sea of swaying grass ablaze, making for amazing photo opportunities. This autumn view famously resembles the final scenes of Studio Ghibli’s “Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind.”

Experience the unique life of Japan’s countryside by staying at a Japanese style thatched roof villa.

The grand finale of this tour is a helicopter cruise over the Ria Coast in the Ise area, overlooking beautiful islands scattered about in the most captivating ways.
Get the most enjoyment out of autumn the Japanese way!

  1. Kansai International Airport - Mt. Shigi

    DAY01

Kansai International Airport - Mt. Shigi

Visit Horyu-ji Temple, which contains some of the oldest wooden buildings in the world, designated as Japan’s first World Heritage Site in 1993. Be simply astonished by the existence of such grand wooden structures and phenomenal design, which was constructed over 1,300 years ago.

Remove yourself from the norms of everyday life, and stay the night at Chogosonshi-ji Temple on Mt. Shigi. Enjoy high-quality shojin ryori there, which is vegetarian cuisine originally derived from the dietary restrictions of Buddhist monks. This day will surely be serene and sacred for you!
  2. Mt. Shigi - Nara City

    DAY02

    Mt. Shigi - Nara City

Wake up early in the morning and experience life as a monk through participation in religious practices with the monks of Shigisan Chogosonshi-ji Temple, including a unique morning prayer, the Goma-gyo fire ritual for granting wishes.

The afternoon is yours to spend at your leisure. You can stroll around history-rich Nara City, and visit Todaiji Temple, which houses the world's largest bronze statue of the Buddha. We also recommend Nara Park, where over one thousand wild deer roam freely, regularly interacting with humans in a variety of fun ways. Or you can choose one of our exclusive optional programs such as a professional “Green Tea Ceremony” in Gikou-in Temple, and admire the beautiful dry-landscape Japanese garden there.
For the adventurous, we recommend our optional "Sumo Wrestler Experience" in which you can jump into the sumo ring and join in a wrestling match!
  3. Nara City – Uda City

    DAY03

    Nara City – Uda City

Your next stop is the Soni Highlands of northeastern Nara, popular for its local specialty meals, natural hot springs, and most of all, the impressive scenery of pampas grass blanketing the land.
Have lunch while enjoying local Japanese craft beer at the local Farm Garden restaurant & market! Watch the pampas grass glowing bright gold in the light of the sunset.

Stay at Sasayuri-an, a luxurious rental villa in a traditional Japanese house with a thatched roof. This is the ideal place to lose track of time and simply relax! You will find yourself soaking in the atmosphere of Japan's traditional countryside.
  4. Uda City - Ise City

    DAY04

    Uda City - Ise City

Spend the day enjoying traditional Japanese culture at the Ise-jingu Shrine, labeled as the most important of the 80,000 Shinto shrines in existence in Japan.
Over 1,500 rituals are conducted yearly in the nature-encompassed area of the shrine, which is about the same size as Paris; it is certainly a gorgeous sight!
Step into this sacred shrine and feel its magnificence by first crossing over the beautiful Uji-bashi Bridge, said to separate the sacred realm of the shrine from the daily world.
Take your time to enjoy the market street leading up to the shrine as well, which has a wide variety of restaurants and shops. This area is full of local specialties and attractive traditional arts and crafts.
  5. Ise – Nagoya

    DAY05

    Ise – Nagoya

The Ise region is famous for its intricate ria coastline and narrow bay, where scattered green, mountainous islands and blue sea make for a gorgeous view.
Enjoy a spectacular helicopter cruise overlooking nature's artistic beauty at its best.

The founder of the world famous Japanese pearl accessory brand “Mikimoto,” Mr. Mikimoto himself, was born here in Ise. This legendary jeweler was the first person in the world to successfully cultivate oysters over a century ago. His dream was "to adorn the necks of all women around the world with pearls." Have a tour of the oyster bed, and of course, feel free to purchase some fabulous pearl products.
  6. Nagoya - Chubu Centrair International Airport

    DAY06

Nagoya - Chubu Centrair International Airport

Your final day in Japan. Relax and let your mind drift back over your journey as we drive you to Chubu Centrair International Airport.
Take your time reminiscing, exploring, and souvenir shopping.
Enjoy a stunning view from the "Sky Deck" where you can watch airplanes take off and land in front of the beautiful Ise Bay on this 300m long observatory platform. This airport is characterized by its location on the sea of Ise Bay, and for having the closest observation deck to runways in Japan.
